Search On For Suspects Who Tried To Hold Up Brooklyn Jewelry Store

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Thursday were seeking three suspects in the attempted gunpoint robbery of a Brooklyn jewelry store, which was thwarted by a security guard.

Around 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, three men walked into Scott Jewelers at 1220 Kings Highway in Gravesend, Brooklyn, police said.

One of the suspects flashed a black revolver at the armed security guard working in the store, police said.

The guard swatted the suspect's hand, and a shot was fired from the gun, but no one was injured, police said.

The suspects ran off empty-handed.

The suspects were described only as black males wearing black masks and hoods. Police have released surveillance photos.

Anyone with information was asked to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS, log onto the Crime Stoppers website, or text tips to 274637 (CRIMES) and enter TIP577.
