Missing 14-Year-Old Brooklyn Tech Student Jenna Hospedales Found

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are asking for help finding a Brooklyn teenager who has been missing since Thursday.

The NYPD said Brooklyn Technical High School freshman Jenna Hospedales walked away from school and down into the Fulton Street subway station to catch a G train at around 3 p.m. on Thursday. There has been no sign of her since.

"We will not stop until she is back home safely," said Crystal Hospedales, the missing 14-year-old's cousin.

Crystal Hospedales is helping lead a mission to have photos of her missing teenage cousin hard to miss on many streets in Brooklyn and beyond.

"She is not a child who is super on social media. She's not a child that dates. She's not a child that has a wild side. She has never left home, so we are extremely concerned," Crystal Hospedales told CBS2's Dave Carlin.

Police at the 77th Precinct station house tweeted out an alert soon after Jenna Hospedales was reported missing. It didn't take long for social media to light up with concerned residents, some showing up Sunday afternoon outside the family's Crown Heights apartment building.

Jenna's distraught mom, Jennelle, said she could not handle being around a crowd so big during such a tough time. Her appearance was very brief and she offered only limited public comments.

"I hope she comes home. That's all I want I want, my baby home," Jennelle Hospedales said.

Flyers have been printed by the thousands, with no shortage of volunteers arriving to put them up.

"We all have kids and it's our worst fear and nightmare," volunteer Norman Mah said.

"I would hope that people would help me as well. That's it. Our heart just goes out to the family. Let's hope that we find her soon," Sarah Bupp added.

Jenna Hospedales is 5-foot-8 and weighs 118 pounds. She was last seen wearing blue jeans and a black jacket.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74682), logging onto the Crime stoppers website at www.nypdcrimestoppers.com, or by texting tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enterings TIP577.
