Search On For Attempted Rape Suspect In East Village

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Tuesday were asking the public to help them find a suspect in an attempted rape this past weekend in the East Village.

The attack happened around 3 a.m. this past Saturday at an unspecified address in the 9th Police Precinct, the NYPD said.

The 32-year-old woman woke up to find the suspect right there in her bedroom standing on her bed, police said.

The suspect sexually assaulted the victim, but fled after a struggle, police said.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male in his 20s, standing 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds.

Police have released a sketch of the suspect.
