Search Continues For Suspect In Shooting, Robbery On Van Wyck Expressway

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police continue their search for the gunman who shot a man and robbed a woman on the Van Wyck Expressway service road in Queens on Friday.

According to police, the shooting victim and suspect got into a verbal dispute while driving in the Jamaica section of Queens at around 9:30 p.m.

The suspect then followed the victim and while stopped at a red light at 94th Street on the Van Wyck service road, the suspect got out of his SUV, shot the victim through the driver's side window, pistol whipped the passenger and stole her gold chains, 1010 WINS reported.

The suspect, described by police as a black male, drove off in a Jeep grand Cherokee and fled southbound down the Van Wyck Expressway.

Police said they later recovered the SUV, unattended, at 134 Street and 97th Avenue.
