School Bus Driver Arrested After Woman, 85, Dies Following Queens Accident

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A school bus driver was arrested and charged Wednesday for allegedly striking an 85-year-old woman in Forest Hills, Queens who later died.

Police were called around 12:50 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, after Jeanine Deutsch, 85, was struck by the 1990 yellow school bus at 108th Street and 70th Road in Queens, the NYPD said.

Deutsch had been trying to cross 108th Street when she was struck, police said. The bus driver was trying to turn right from westbound 70th Road onto southbound 108th Street, police said.

Deutsch woman was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital Center in serious condition. She was pronounced dead at the hospital on Tuesday, police said.

Police on Wednesday arrested the driver, Isaac Sanson, 47, of Brooklyn. He was charged with failure to yield right of way.
