College Board Won't Count Section Of SAT After Printing Glitch

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A portion of last weekend's SAT exam is being tossed out due to confusion caused by a printing error.

The booklets indicated students were allowed 25 minutes on a section of the 10-part test, but they were told by proctors they only had 20 minutes, WCBS 880 Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs reported.

College Board officials have apologized for the error and have decided not to include that section of the test in the overall score. They say students will still receive valid scores for their performance on the exam and that the other test sections will still yield an accurate assessment.

The SAT glitch affected students nationwide.

The incident is expected to add fuel to calls for colleges to drop the SAT requirement.
