Food Network TV Star Sandra Lee Undergoes Surgery, Shares Update On Facebook

ALBANY, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) — Food Network television star Sandra Lee had surgery for breast cancer in New York City on Tuesday morning.

Lee wrote in a Facebook message posted Monday night that her procedure was scheduled for the next day. In her message, Lee thanked those who offered prayers and messages of support.

The double mastectomy had been initially scheduled for last week but was delayed after Lee came down with an upper respiratory infection.

The 48-year-old lifestyle personality and live-in girlfriend of New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo revealed her diagnosis on ABC's "Good Morning America."

According to a Twitter update Tuesday, Lee was "groggy ... but grateful" following surgery.

Cuomo who plans to take some personal time to be with Lee, said "around 8 a.m. this morning, Sandy underwent surgery that concluded just before 1 p.m. I am happy to report that she is doing as well as can be expected and has begun the post-surgery recovery process. On behalf of Sandy and myself, I want to thank everyone for their kind thoughts and prayers over the last few days. Your support has meant the world to us."
