Traffic, Rails Snagged When Truck Gets Stuck Under Metro-North Underpass In Rye

RYE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A roadway was closed, and Metro-North Railroad trains were delayed Monday when a truck became stuck under an overpass in Rye.

The truck got stuck late Monday afternoon under the Metro-North overpass at 100 Purchase St. in Rye, Joe Biermann reported from Chopper 2.

Purchase Street was closed at the scene, and Metro-North New Haven Line trains were delayed by 5 to 10 minutes on the New Haven Line as the Metropolitan Transportation Authority was slowing them down, Biermann reported.

The Budget rental truck was expected to take some time to remove from the underpass, Biermann reported. Crews often first partially deflate the tires on a jammed truck to see if its operator can then drive out.
