Rutgers University's COVID Vaccine Mandate Will Stay In Place, Federal Judge Rules

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- The vaccine mandate at Rutgers University will stay in place for now, a federal judge ruled.

The judge tossed out a request for a temporary restraining order from several Rutgers students.

It comes after a lawsuit filed in August claimed the mandate is illegal and unconstitutional.

The mandate, announced in March, requires students to be fully vaccinated to be on campus, except for religious or medical exemptions.
