Route 3 Reopens After Overnight Crash In Clifton

CLIFTON, N.J. (CBSNewYork) - Parts of Route 3 were shut down for hours following a fatal crash around midnight Sunday.

Police say a Toyota Matrix driven by a 57-year-old resident of Sparta hit a pedestrian on Route 3 Westbound near Main Avenue in Clifton.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead. The driver of the car was not injured and remained at the scene.

Route 3 westbound was closed for about five hours and reopened before 6 a.m.
