Rockland County Reconsidered For New Legoland Location

ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Could Rockland County finally be getting a Legoland?

Legoland owner Merlin Entertainments pitched the idea for a theme park in Haverstraw in September 2015, but the plan was shot down by residents, WCBS 880's Ginny Kosola reported.

Now, the Legoland plan in back -- with sights to build the park on the former Novartis Plant site in Suffern.

Merlin Entertainment executives have already visited the site and held a meeting with representatives from Rockland County, Suffern and other local agencies on Thursday to discuss the plan.

The park would include rides, a water park and a hotel, raising concerns over the size of the park, which could bring in two million visitors a year.

The London-based entertainment company is also considering Other areas in Orange County and New Jersey as possible locations, according to the Journal News.
