Dead tiger shark washes ashore at Robert Moses State Park beach

Swimming banned at some Robert Moses beaches following shark sighting

BABYLON, N.Y. -- Some of the beaches closed Wednesday at Robert Moses State Park after a dead tiger shark washed ashore in the morning.

State officials say large schools of bait fish have been spotted in the water near fields four and five, with another shark possibly among them.

Swimming was banned at both those fields from about 11:15 a.m. until 2:15 p.m.

Officials say swimming with be allowed there Thursday unless there's another sighting.
