Cops: LI Man On Drugs Passes Out Behind Wheel, Revived With Narcan

ISLANDIA, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Long Island man under the influence of drugs was arrested after he became unconscious while behind the wheel, police said.

Robert Moore, 23, of West Islip, was stopped at a red light on Motor Parkway and Express Drive South when he lost consciousness and stopped breathing, Suffolk County Police said.

Several police officers arrived at the scene shortly after, with Police Officer Kathleen Cotter, a member of the Medical Crisis Action Team, treating Moore with Narcan, an anti-overdose drug, officials said. Two Good Samaritans, who had pulled over before police arrived, were also on the scene.

Moore regained consciousness and was transported to St. Catherine's of Sienna Medical Center in Smithtown for treatment, police said. He was later released.

Moore is charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, police said. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Central Islip on Dec. 11.
