Private Investigator Accused Of Trying To Smuggle Drugs Into Rikers Island

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A private investigator is under arrest after allegedly trying to smuggle drugs into Rikers Island.

As WCBS 880's Rich Lamb reported, the Department of Investigation did some digging and found that private investigator Marrion-Paul Small-Williams was trying to smuggle contraband into the jail.

DOI arranged to have a drug-sniffing dog greet the would-be smuggler and the pooch alerted.

"After the dog hit on the suspect, we recovered 66 grams of K2, sometimes also called synthetic marijuana, as well as 24 grams of marijuana and this contraband was actually concealed in the defendant's underwear," said DOI Commissioner Mark Peters.

Peters said the contraband was in two plastic bags in two balloons.

Now, Small-Williams faces charges that could translate into eighth years in prison.
