Thousands Line Streets For Ridgewood, NJ Parade

RIDGEWOOD, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Thousands lined the streets of Ridgewood, N.J. Saturday for the 105th annual Fourth of July parade.

The clamor among the locals for a good spot is unlike anything seen before.

Some people claimed their spots by setting up their chairs a week prior to the parade, some set them up two weeks before, CBS2's Ilana Gold reported.

Diane Vasa of Ridgewood says it's very competitive and everyone wants the perfect spot to watch the parade.

"It's very competitive .. even in the rain," Vasa said. "You have to get the right spot." Luckily, parade spectators received nice weather for the event.

Many people in the crowd flock to the parade because it's tradition.

"We always come to the Ridgewood parade because it's the best .. it's tradition," said Hillsdale resident Arlene Wolfe.
