Man Driving Stolen Truck Killed On L.I. Roadway, Cops Say

ROOSEVELT, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A man driving a stolen box truck was killed after being struck by several vehicles on a Long Island parkway, police said.

Rick Munoz, 28, of Oyster Bay, was driving erratically on the Southern State Parkway at around 1:45 a.m. Thursday when he struck a guardrail in Roosevelt, police said. He was struck and killed on the roadway while fleeing the scene.

A dog he had with him was also killed.

Joel Padilla, 27, was arrested on a charge of possession of stolen property in connection with the incident. It was not immediately clear if he has an attorney.

The box truck was stolen in New York City, police said.
