Reward Offered In Search For Suspects In Brutal Beating Of Livery Cab Driver

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- Fellow cabbies have offered a reward in the brutal beating of a livery cab driver.

The State Federation of Taxi Drivers announced the $5,000 reward at a news conference on Sunday.

Three weeks ago two Hispanic passengers allegedly tried to rob driver Luis Molina by luring him out of his cab to help put their suitcases in the trunk. When Molina refused to give up his money the suspects beat him until he was unconscious.

"This one is so severe. He received ten stitches on the side of his nose. His nose is still fractured and he could have been left for dead," a spokesperson said.

The attempted robbery and beating occurred in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx on the morning of January 22.
