A Starbucks opened on Union Avenue and Ainslie Street on Monday morning.

"Yeah, I kind of root for them. They're like a huge American company," Jenny Chang told 1010 WINS' Derricke Dennis.

Others, however, did not share Chang's enthusiasm.

"I feel like that's kind of a nice part about it," said Scott Carr, in reference to the decidedly hip neighborhood's history of resisting corporate expansion.

Workers at smaller coffee shops were not exactly rolling out the welcome mat on Monday.

"It's just, we don't want another small Manhattan here. We have something else in Brooklyn," Sarah Madge said.

In spite of the Starbucks' opening, Madge said that her customers were still coming in for home-brewed latte's.
