Reports: Brother May Have Dropped 23-Day-Old Baby Who Died

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are trying to determine whether an East Harlem woman should face charges in the death of her 23-day-old baby.

The infant, Deion McNeil, was reportedly found unresponsive and bleeding from his head in his 6-year-old brother's arms Friday night at the family's apartment in the Washington Houses.

NYPD detectives have been questioning the mother, 31-year-old Ebony McNeil, since Friday. But published reports say the brother may have dropped the baby.

The question for investigators, as well as neighbors: Should the mother be held responsible?

"People should wait till the investigation is done, because she could actually be a good parent," one woman told 1010 WINS' Derricke Dennis.

"It's a mom's responsibility, no doubt about it," a man said.

The autopsy from the medical examiner was reportedly inconclusive.
