Report: Tim Tebow Could Take Part In NFL's Veteran Combine

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Tim Tebow hasn't taken a regular-season snap since 2012. But he might be eyeing one more attempt at a comeback, according to the Boston Globe.

The former -- and polarizing -- New York Jets quarterback "has been working out diligently" with QB guru Tom House and could participate in this month's veteran combine in Arizona, the Globe reported.

House, who was unsure whether Tebow would be among the players at the Cardinals' training facility on March 22, told the Globe that the former Heisman winner "went from being a little inaccurate and didn't throw a whole lot of spirals, to throwing very accurate and real good at spinning the ball."

Tebow, 27, was traded from Denver to New York in 2012 and released by the Jets after one tumultuous year as Mark Sanchez's backup. He was picked up by New England and cut during the 2013 preseason.

He now serves as an analyst for the SEC Network.

"I'd rather be in shorts," Tebow told The Associated Press in August.

The NFL announced in January that it would hold a second combine -- the other is an annual event for draft hopefuls -- for veteran free agents looking to get back into the league. About 100 players are expected to be accepted via an application process and will be put through a series of drills with representatives from all 32 teams on hand.

Among the reported participants will be Michael Sam, the openly gay defensive end who was drafted by the St. Louis Rams last year.

Tebow, oft-criticized for his throwing style, never lived up to the hype following his 12-touchdown season with the Broncos in 2011, which included a dramatic playoff win against Pittsburgh. He had just six completions for 39 yards in 2012, his lone season with the Jets -- and his last in the league.
