Report: Nets Expected To Rid Themselves Of Andrei Kirilenko

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The curious case of Andrei Kirilenko continues.

The Nets' forward, who has seen his playing time decrease, will not be with the team this weekend when Brooklyn takes on Oklahoma City and San Antonio. The organization says the absence is because of personal reasons.

According to the New York Post, the Nets might soon cut ties with the 33-year-old Russian. The newspaper reports that the organization might attempt to trade Kirilenko, whose $3.3 million contract is set to expire. If a trade isn't completed, a buyout is likely.

The veteran hasn't appeared in the Nets' last three games.

Head coach Lionel Hollins was asked if he expects the former All-Star to be with the team when it returns home following the game against the 76ers on Wednesday.

Hollins oddly responded, "I don't know."

Kirilenko is averaging 0.4 points, 0.1 assists and 1.1 rebounds in 5.1 minutes per game.

He signed a two-year, $6.5 million deal with Brooklyn in July of 2013.
