Report: Most NYC Murder Victims In 2013 Knew Their Killers
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Of the 334 murders in New York City in 2013, it appears only 29 victims did not know their killer.
According to a report in the New York Post, you're more likely to drown in your bathtub, die in an earthquake or die in a plane crash than be murdered by a stranger in New York. Not all the murder cases have been solved, though, so the number could go higher.
According to the Post, 62 of last year's murder victims were killed by a family member, 53 were killed by a friend or acquaintance, which could mean a rival gang member.
A senior police official added that stickups as gas stations and bodegas, once common in the city, are rapidly disappearing.
