Report: Kevin Love Interested In Playing For Knicks

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Kevin Love is reportedly in love with the idea of being a star player in a major NBA market, putting the Knicks on the short list of teams he'd like to play for.

The Lakers have often been mentioned as possible a landing spot for the Minnesota Timberwolves' All-Star big man, who is set to become a free agent in 2015. That's not surprising considering his ties to Los Angeles -- he played at UCLA, and his father, Stan, was a Laker in the 1970s.

But a source familiar with Love's thinking told ESPN he's not just interested in Los Angeles. He's enamored with becoming "big time in a big city," the source said, specifically naming the Knicks and Chicago Bulls as other possible suitors.

New Knicks president Phil Jackson has said he plans for the team to be a major player in free agency. The Timberwolves, however, have expressed they have no plans to trade Love as they hope to re-sign their marquee player. That could change, however, if they believe his chances of returning to Minnesota are slim.

Love, 25, a six-year veteran, is averaging 19.1 points and 12.2 rebounds per game in his career. He led the NBA in rebouding in 2010-11 and ranks in the top five this season in rebounds (12.6) and points (26.3).
