Coughlin, who won Super Bowls XLII and XLVI with the G-Men, has been the Giants' coach since 2004. This marked the first time in Coughlin's Giants career that he posted consecutive losing seasons. New York went 7-9 in 2013.
No goodbyes for Tom Coughlin today. His address to his players was about how he appreciated the way they responded to adversity this year.

After beginning the season 3-2, the Giants dropped seven straight games to fall to 3-9. It was widely believed during the losing streak that Coughlin would be let go after the season, but the Giants finished strong, winning three of their final four games.
Tom Coughlin has been the best man for the Giants job since 2004. Over a decade later, the Mara family hasn't wavered in that belief.

Many Giants, including star quarterback Eli Manning and rookie phenom Odell Beckham Jr., voiced their support for Coughlin and hoped that co-owner John Mara would retain him for a 12th season.
Other coaches on the hot seat weren't as lucky as Coughlin on Black Monday. Rex Ryan, Marc Trestman and Mike Smith were all fired by their respective teams.
