Bryant Park Skating Rink Looks More Like Swimming Pool As Warm Temps Break Records Across Tri-State

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - This is November, right?

Temperatures reached the upper 70s today and broke the long-standing record of 74° set back on this date in 1948.

Today's high of 75 degrees was reached at LaGuardia Airport, breaking the previous record of 71, CBS2's Lonnie Quinn reported.

Central Park tied the previous record of 74 degrees.

It was so warm today that the skating rink at Bryant Park looked more like a swimming pool, CBS2's Alice Gainer reported.

Crews used brooms to push the water off the rink, and the Zamboni was used to resurface the ice in between skating sessions.

People were skating in shorts and tank tops, Gainer reported.

"It's 75 degrees in Bryant Park and skating -- you can't ask for anything else," said Antonella Thompson of Verona, NJ.

"I am seeing people walking around in winter coats and I am like, 'What the hell. Put your shorts on. You can't do this much longer,'" said Stephen Belyea of Toronto.

Expect partly sunny skies Saturday with just a leftover chance of light rain to our south. Highs will be running about 10° cooler in the mid 60s.

It will be cooler and sunny on Sunday, according to Lewis, with temps only rising into the mid 50s.

As of now, Monday looks quiet with temps around normal.
