Rangers, Zuccarello Agree To Terms On New Contract

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- One of the Rangers' best offensive players from last season will be around for a while.

The team announced Tuesday night it had agreed to a new contract with restricted free agent forward Mats Zuccarello. According to multiple reports the deal is for one year and $3.5 million.

Zuccarello, 26, led the Rangers in scoring during the 2013-14 season, posting 19 goals and 40 assists.

The 5-foot-7 Norwegian winger added career highs in games played (77), plus-minus rating (plus-11), power play goals (4), power play assists (13), power play points (17), game-winning goals (4), average ice time (17:08), and shots on goal (170).

During the Rangers' run to their first Stanley Cup Final appearance in 20 years, Zuccarello had 5 goals, 8 assists and was a plus-7  in 25 games.

Zuccarello has 30 goals, 63 assists and a plus-24 rating in 144 career NHL games, all with the Rangers.
