Rangers-Penguins Playoff Series Schedule Announced
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- It wasn't easy, but the New York Rangers are moving on after beating the Philadelphia Flyers 2-1 in Wednesday night's winner-take-all Game 7.
Next up: Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins, who finished the regular season as the Eastern Conference's second-best team at 51-24-7.
The second-round series will open Friday at Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh.
"We're battle-tested and we're ready," Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said. "Moving forward, we know that we can play a real strong game at both ends of the rink. Pittsburgh is probably one of the best teams in the league. We're going to have our hands full."
It should be a tight series, though the Penguins come in with fresher legs having eliminated Columbus on Monday. New York and Pittsburgh split four games this season.
