Rangers Fan Chris Christie: 'I Want Triple-OT In Game 7' Of Finals

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Chris Christie is a die-hard New York Rangers fan and a 2014 Pulse of the People Award nominee.

Oh yeah, and he's the governor of New Jersey.

So it was no surprise to hear he was "overjoyed" on Friday about the Blueshirts making the Stanley Cup finals, and "overwhelmed" to be up for the major award handed out annually on WFAN's "Boomer & Carton" show.

"The realization for Rangers fans, who have been waiting -- all of us -- for 20 years to go back to have a chance for the Cup, that our team is actually playing for the Stanley Cup, listen, you're talking to a guy who roots for some teams in this town that have not had a lot of success lately," said Christie, who said last week on the "Boomer & Carton" show that he'd love to be general manager of the Mets.

"This is pretty great for (New York City) and for the region to have a team that's playing for a title."

Christie said it was "torture" trying to listen to Thursday night's Game 6 against Montreal while on a plane to Tennessee.

As for the finals, he claimed "it doesn't really matter" who the Rangers play, Chicago or Los Angeles.

"I want triple-overtime in Game 7," he said. "That's all I really care about."
