Woman Slashed In Thigh While Jogging In Queens Park

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A woman jogging in a Queens park was slashed Sunday morning.

The NYPD confirmed to CBS2 the 19-year-old woman was slashed on a thigh with a sharp object by a man while running at La Guardia Landing Lights Park In Jackson Heights around 11:15 a.m.

The incident took place on 25th Avenue between 79th and 80th streets.

"That's very shocking, very shocking," resident Pamela Charry told CBS2's Valerie Castro.

The victim was taken to Elmhurst General Hospital and is listed in stable condition.

Police said the suspect was wearing a gray hoodie.

Charry told CBS2 that it's scary what happened because she always considered it a safe area.

"People are home by six, kids play outside, so it's very safe," she said. "So to hear something like that is a little scary."

The investigation is ongoing.
