Woman Fatally Struck By Her Own SUV In Tragic Accident At Queens Gas Station
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Police say a woman was killed after she was run over by her own SUV in a tragic accident in Queens.
It happened around noon at a gas station in Maspeth.
Investigators say the husband and wife had just washed the SUV and parked it to dry off.
The woman's husband has apparently left the car in gear and it started rolling backward where the wife was standing.
When he jumped in to put on the brake, police say he accidentally hit the gas pedal – running her over.
Authorities have now identified the woman as 51-year-old Isabel Ramirez-Cohetero.
A gas station attendant told CBS2's Natalie Duddridge the man rushed into the station's store asking him to call 911 in complete shock.
"Husband all the time crying, crying, crying, and others cry," Firoz Khan said.
First responders rushed the woman to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
