Greek Orthodox Church In Corona, Queens Gutted By Fire

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Chopper 2 was over the fire damaged Transfiguration of Christ Greek Orthodox Church in Corona on Friday.

Pictures tweeted by the FDNY showed a charred church interior.

The fire began shortly before noon at the church which is on 98th Street in Corona.

CBS2 has been told that only the caretaker was inside at the time, and was being treated for smoke inhalation.

There's no word as to what caused the fire, church officials are still assessing the damage.
