Queens Barbershop Owner Accused Of Fatally Stabbing Customer

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A customer at a Queens barbershop was allegedly stabbed and killed by one of the shop's co-owners, police told 1010 WINS.

According to officials, police responded to a 911 call of a man stabbed inside the barbershop located at 227-14 Merrick Blvd. in the Laurelton section of Queens just before 2 p.m. Thursday.

When police arrived, they found the victim -- 19-year-old Carl Richardson, of Queens -- unconscious and unresponsive with stab wounds to his torso, authorities said.

EMS transported Richardson to Franklin General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police told 1010 WINS Richardson and the suspect, 34-year-old Cedric Simpson, knew each other prior to the stabbing.

Investigators said they don't have a motive yet and did not say if any other customers were in the shop at the time of the stabbing.

Simpson, of Queens, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
