Student Arrested After Bringing Loaded Gun To Bronx School

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A 20-year-old student was arrested Wednesday after police said he brought a loaded gun to school.

The incident happened at around 10 a.m. at P.U.L.S.E. (Providing Urban Learners Success in Education) High School located at 560 East 179th Street in the Bronx.

The student had the gun hidden in a book inside a plastic bag, police said. When he went outside the school to smoke a cigarette, he placed the bag on the ground, police said.

A female school safety officer saw the bag, picked it up off the ground and then noticed it was odd, according to police.

There are no metal detectors at the school.
