Police Identify Suspect In Brooklyn Slashing

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police have identified a man they believe is responsible for slashing a 68-year-old woman's throat in Brooklyn.

Investigators are looking for Gregory Alfred, 25. The NYPD released a booking photo of him from last year.

Alfred approached the woman from behind March 10 on Beverley Road in Prospect Park South and attacked her, police said.

She is recovering.

It does not appear the victim and suspect knew each other.

Alfred is 6 feet, 3 inches tall and weighs around 170 pounds, police said.

A home surveillance camera captured home video of the suspect wearing a gray hooded sweat shirt and dark pants and running on Argyle Road toward Cortelyou Road.

Police are asking anyone with information about Alfred's whereabouts to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-8477 or to submit a tip online at NYPDCrimeStoppers.com. All communications are kept confidential.
