Prosecutors: N.J. Corrections Officer, Girlfriend Found Dead In Suspected Murder-Suicide

NUTLEY, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A New Jersey state corrections officer and his girlfriend were found dead in their Nutley, New Jersey home this week – in what prosecutors believe was a murder-suicide.

Authorities found the bodies of Christina Prestianni, 37, and her boyfriend, Christopher Minichini, 38, in their home on Hillside Avenue on Thursday, according to the Essex County Prosecutor's office.

Both had suffered fatal gunshot wounds, and a preliminary investigation indicated that Minichini shot his girlfriend and then turned the gun on himself, prosecutors said.

Investigators Friday evening were awaiting autopsy results.

Minichini had worked as a New Jersey State Corrections officer for the past seven years, prosecutors said.

No further information was available Friday evening.
