2 Arrested In Armed Robbery Of Staten Island Priest, Police Say

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Police say they've made two arrests in the armed robbery, beating and carjacking of a priest outside a Staten Island church on Thursday.

Kerry Pack and Antwine Lucas have been arrested on charges of robbery and possession of stolen property, the Staten Island Advance reported.

At around 5:05 a.m. Thursday, two men were seen walking along Castleton Avenue in the West Brighton section of Staten Island and taking a right on Bodine Street. There on the steps of Our Lady of Mount Carmel-St. Benedicta Church stood the Rev. Marc Roselli – not yet wearing his collar.

The Rev. Marc Roselli was accosted as he got out of his car just after 5 a.m. on Thursday. Roselli gave up his wallet before a suspect punched him in the face. Both men fled in his car.

The priest suffered a black eye but still said Mass seven hours after the attack.

Police did recover the car four blocks away, according to NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce. They also told Roselli he would get his wallet and phone back.

There was no immediate information on attorneys who could comment on the defendants' behalf.
