'48 Hours' Looks Back At 'The Preppy Killer' Case

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Thirty years ago this month, a murder in Central Park shocked the city and it was soon the headline on tabloids across the country.

In August 1986, a bicyclist found 18-year-old Jennifer Levin's body, bruised and half-naked in the park. She'd been strangled to death.

Robert Chambers was charged with murder, pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter, and served 15 years in prison.

When he was released, Chambers gave his only interview to Troy Roberts of "48 Hours."

"48 Hours" takes a look back "The Preppy Killer" case this weekend.

Richard Schlesinger stopped by CBS2 to give us a preview.

Be sure to watch "48 Hours" on CBS2 this Saturday at 10 p.m.
