YORKTOWN, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) - Three pre-teens have been arrested and charged with vandalizing an Islamic center in suburban New York.

Police say furniture and books were thrown around two classrooms of the Hudson Valley Islamic Community Center in Mohegan Lake.

A teacher at the school told the Journal News that four of the books were Qurans and that one had pages torn out.

Police also say that soap dispensers were ripped off the walls of two bathrooms.

The vandalism was discovered on Wednesday.

The suspects are 12 and 13 years old. They were charged with juvenile delinquency.

They were released to the custody of their parents and were due in family court on Sept. 30.
