Prayer Vigil To Be Held For Bergen County Officer Injured In Crash

LODI, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A prayer vigil will be held Friday night for a Bergen County Police Department officer critically injured in a crash last weekend.

Officer Daniel Breslin, 39, was assisting another officer early Saturday when a car slammed into his SUV on Route 46 westbound in Lodi, officials said.

Breslin is on life support and in a medically-induced coma after suffering severe head injuries.

Earlier this week, Lodi High School teacher Michael Ettz, 36, pleaded not guilty to DWI, aggravated assault and leaving the scene of an accident with serious bodily injury in connection with the crash.

Ettz has been suspended from teaching and remains free on $150,000 bail.

The prayer vigil for Breslin will be held at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church at 8 p.m. Friday.

Breslin is married and has two children.
