John Paul II's Letters Reveal Relationship, But No Indication Pope Broke Celibacy Vow With Married Woman

WARSZAWA, Poland (CBSNewYork) -- New personal letters reveal an intimate relationship between Pope John Paul II and a woman.

According to 350 letters found at the National Library of Poland, the pope had a close relationship with a married woman for over 30 years starting in 1973.

There is no suggestion he broke his vow of celibacy with Polish born, American philosopher and writer Anna- Teresa Tymieniecka.

The two spent camping and skiing holidays together and went on country walks.

Only the pope's letters have been released, her's were being kept secret.
