Pope Expected To Call For Acceptance Of Immigrants During US Visit

HAMPTON BAYS, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Pope Francis is expected to speak mainly in Spanish when he talks about embracing immigrants within the church during his visit to the United States next month.

Father Stephen Grozio of the Church of St. Rosalie in Hampton Bays, where many immigrants worship, said the pope will focus on love and peace.

"I think a message of peace and love ... is very important," Grozio told WCBS 880's Sophia Hall. "The pope's message is a message of concern for people and all people, and in a very special way, concern for the poor. I believe it's going to resonate with a lot of people."

The pope will also visit Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia.

The pope will arrive at JFK Airport on Sept. 24 and attend evening prayer at St. Patrick's Cathedral. The next day, he will address the General Assembly, host an interfaith service at the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, visit a school in East Harlem and celebrate Mass at Madison Square Garden.

He will also visit Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia.
