Pope Francis Celebrates 81st Birthday In Rome

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Pope Francis celebrated his 81st birthday in Rome on Sunday.

The pontiff woke up to a huge crowd gathered outside his window at the Vatican, wishing him best wishes as they gathered for Sunday Mass.

The pope also joined some children to dig into a 13-foot pizza complete with a candle for the occasion. Some children from Rome's pediatric hospital also presented Pope Francis with a cake.
