Poll: NJ Residents Split On Christie Veto Of Gun Legislation
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) -- New Jersey residents are split on Gov. Chris Christie's decision to veto legislation that would have reduced the number of bullets gun magazines can hold.
A new Rutgers-Eagleton poll out Tuesday finds 49 percent of Garden State residents support the veto. Another 42 percent disagree.
Still, 66 percent believe Christie should have met with parents of children killed in the Sandy Hook school shooting. Christie declined to.
Residents also remain deeply worried about guns, but not as worried as they used to be. Sixty-eight percent told pollsters they're ``very concerned'' about gun violence. That's down 9 points from immediately after the Sandy Hook shooting.
The poll of 871 New Jerseyans was conducted before the recent events in Ferguson, Missouri. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.9 percentage points.
