Police: Worker Shot During Robbery At Ridgefield Park Gas Station

RIDGEFIELD PARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Police are searching for a man who allegedly shot a worker during an apparent robbery at a gas station in Ridgefield Park.

The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. Monday at the Delta gas station on Main Street.

Police said a man approached the gas station attendant, took out a gun and demanded money, CBS 2's Diane Macedo reported.

The suspect then fired one shot, which hit the attendant in the stomach, and took off with several hundred dollars in cash, police said.

The suspect fled in a black car, possibly a Nissan, and was last seen heading northbound on Main Street, Macedo reported.

The victim was taken to Hackensack Medical Center, where he underwent surgery Tuesday morning.

Police said the suspect is considered armed and dangerous.

"We're going to do what we have to do to apprehend him as quickly as possible," Police Captain Dan Hippe told 1010 WINS. "We have no specific leads, but we are still actively investigating this case."

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Ridgefield Park Police Department.
