Police: Woman With Kids In Tow Stole Tip Jar In Connecticut

WESTPORT, Conn. (CBSNewYork) -- A woman turned herself in to police this week in Westport, Conn., after allegedly stealing one tip jar, and money form a second one, at a local restaurant with her two small children in tow in December.

Stacy Flanagan of Fairfield, Conn., allegedly walked into the unspecified restaurant on Dec. 31, and swiping the tip jar from the counter, police said. She then stole the money from the second jar to pay for her order at the restaurant, police said.

After surveillance video was released, Westport police received an anonymous tip that led them to Flanagan, police said.

She later admitted to taking the money.

Flanagan was charged under Connecticut State Law with larceny, as well as with injury or risk of injury, or impairing morals of children.

She was released after posting $2,500 bond, and was set to appear in Norwalk Superior Court at 9:30 a.m. Monday, March 3.
