Police: Woman Killed While Crossing Street In East Village

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police said a woman was killed Thursday morning after being hit by an SUV while crossing the street in the East Village.

It happened just before 6:30 a.m. at the intersection of Third Avenue and St. Marks Place.

Police said 47-year-old Lisa Julian was trying to cross Astor Place when she was hit by a Ford Explorer that was heading south on Cooper Square.

The 58-year-old driver remained at the scene. Julian was taken to the hospital where she later died, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
