Police: Woman gunned down inside Toy Factory Apartments in Jersey City

Suspect arrested in shooting death of woman in Jersey City

JERSEY CITY, N.J. -- A suspect has been arrested in the shooting death of a woman inside a Jersey City apartment building.

It happened Tuesday morning.

The Hudson County prosecutor's officer says 35-year-old Temara King was shot on the third floor of the Toy Factory Apartments on Bergen Avenue. She was taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Police say the suspect, 39-year-old Lucas Cooper, was arrested in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and is charged with murder.

A neighbor said she heard the gunfire.

"I really, really heard the shots. It went bang, bang, bang," the neighbor said. "It was quiet and I was going to open my door. Something told me not to open the door. As I passed him coming in the building, going up the elevator and he was coming the opposite way, who knows? He could have shot me."

Investigators say the murder is being investigated as an act of domestic violence.
