Police: Woman Attacked, Stabbed While Walking Dog In Lewisboro
LEWISBORO, N.Y. (CBSNEwYork) -- New York State Crime Stoppers on Thursday were offering a reward of up to $2,500 for an arrest, after a woman was stabbed and wounded as she walked a dog in Westchester County.
New York State Police said the 25-year-old woman was walking the dog at Bouton and Gilbert streets in Lewisboro around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, when she was grabbed from behind and assaulted.
The suspect then stabbed the woman repeatedly in the abdomen, before running off, police said.
The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Neighbors told CBS 2 the area has not seen a crime in decades.
"I think of this place as hipster Mayberry," said neighbor Brent Nyitray. "It's where a lot of people are coming from Brooklyn and places like that. It's a very kind of cool, hip area. Violence just seems like way, way out of the question. I'm shocked.
New York State Crime Stoppers described the assailant as a white male standing about 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, and wearing a hooded jacket or shirt.
Crime Stoppers, in cooperation with state police, were offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.
