Police: Uncle Is Prime Suspect In Shooting That Killed Pregnant Woman In Queens

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Thursday said the uncle of a pregnant woman is the primary suspect in the shooting that left her dead in Queens.

Anastasia Massey, 27, was gunned down Wednesday morning in the hallway of her building on the Horace Harding Expressway in the LeFrak City apartments complex in Corona, police said.

Massey's husband said he heard gunshots around 8:30 a.m. and found his wife shot in the hallway of their building, sources told CBS2. She had just dropped off her kids from school, police said.

Massey had been shot in the chest and arm, police said. She was taken to Elmhurst Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Sources told CBS2 Massey was 25 weeks pregnant. Doctors were able to deliver the baby, but the infant later died, hospital officials said.

Police as of late Thursday had not released the name of the suspect.

He remained at large late Thursday.
