Police: Suspects Robbed, Attacked Man On No. 1 Train In Morningside Heights

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Wednesday were searching for four suspects who allegedly ripped off a man's iPhone and attacked him on a No. 1 subway train in Morningside Heights.

Around 5:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, the 29-year-old man was headed south on the No. 1 train near the 110th Street-Cathedral Parkway station, police said.

The suspects surrounded the man, and one of them took his iPhone 4S when the train pulled into the station and the doors opened, police said.

The thief ran off on the platform with the other suspects, as the victim chased them, police said. The suspect who stole the phone then punched the victim in the face, causing a laceration to his lip, police said.

The victim was not hospitalized for the injury.

Police have released surveillance photos of the suspects in the incident.
